FUN SITE OF THE MOMENT
Eyesore of the Month is fun site for anyone with a sick fascination for bad architecture and design. It's the brainchild of James Howard Kunstler, an American writer, lecturer, and self-trained aesthetic critic.

WANTED: SPACE ECHO
I am looking for a Roland Space Echo (or Stage Echo) in good working condition. I would prefer to buy one from someone local (Vancouver area) so as to avoid shipping fees. If you have any info on where I can find one of these devices, contact me.

Our label, HybridElectric, has set up its own Mp3.com station, featuring tracks by Hinterland, Tex La Homa, and Lorna. The station is sure to expand as the label's catalogue continues to grow.

We've never been big on popularity contests, but if our friends and fans want to support us, we're not going to say no! There are actually plenty of ways to do this:

1) Visit our page on Auralgasms, sign up as a member, and rate us out of five.
2) Stream our songs on New Music Canada. I'm hoping we'll show up in the Space Pop Top Ten pretty soon!
3) CBC's ZeD site is another place to rate our music out of five. We have three songs there, and you can rate each one individually.
4) CityGigs gives you a chance to tell the world what you think about Hinterland's live show. Again, it's a rating out of five, from "crap" to "outstanding".
5) And, of course, there's good ol' Mp3.com. The more plays we get there, the higher we'll move up in the chart for our chosen category. And that kinda gives us a warm, fuzzy feeling all over.

Everyone within earshot of CBC Radio 3 should tune in on Saturday night, because our song "Tiger Tiger" is on the playlist. Of course, you'll have to wait until after 3 a.m. to hear it.

Oh, and if you're in Vancouver on Saturday night, swing by the Marine Club. I'll be playing guitar and bass with Windows '78.

I was just looking at some of the new releases available at Tonevendor, and holy cow do they ever have a lot of great stuff, including albums by bands I have been hearing amazing things about lately, such as Pacific UV, Fonda, and Sciflyer. I think I might have to break down and order a whole wack of stuff.

Oh, and did I mention that they have a couple of the last few remaining copies of our out-of-print EP (the one with "Destroy Destroyer" on it)? Get one while they last.

HybridElectric Records has just put out its first release, by U.K.-based singer-songwriter and producer Matt Shaw, aka Tex La Homa. The album is called If Just Today Were to Be My Entire Life, and it's a collection of mellow, melodic songs augmented by electronic loops and beats. Good stuff. Order it here.

Today's edition of the Vancouver Province newspaper features the following item by Stuart Derdeyn: "Local trip-rock act Hinterland will release its full-length CD of '80s-influenced space pop on Detroit-based label HybridElectric on November 18. Hear Hinterland's track "Tiger Tiger" on CBC Radio 3 at www.cbcr3.com. Kudos to the Canadian music industry for failing--yet again--to pick up on a quality indie act playing music that's right in line with what's blowing up in the U.S. and the U.K. Oh well, there's always another Our Lady Peace cover act out there to sign."
