Vancouver, you have spoken. As Michaela mentioned, you voted for Nickelback (Westender editors, please note the correct spelling) as "best local band", edging out Soul Decision (number two) and Mr. Plow (number three). I have nothing to say to you. Well, maybe just one thing.

(To all those who did vote sensibly in support of quality indie artists: thank you thank you thank you.)

Hey, Under the Waterline just got another review. Read it here. It's a pretty interesting take on our sound (unicorns? ...dragons?), but I feel compelled to point out that there are no strings nor harmonica on the album. I think she was referring to the layered synths and oboe on "wasntevenwinded". Nonetheless, it is a pretty positive review. Thanks, Cordmag!

SEEKING NEW MEMBER
Hinterland is looking for someone to play guitar and keyboards. If you are looking at this blog, you probably know all about us already, but just in case you don't: Our influences include the usual assortment of shoegaze/dreampop stuff (Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, Cocteau Twins et al), but we also like tons of other stuff, like Mogwai, the Cure, Interpol, Tortoise, Joy Division, the Smiths, Brian Eno, M83... quite a range of stuff. We have a CD out on HybridElectric Records (Detroit) that has gotten a ton of awesome reviews, we've appeared on Canadian national TV a couple of times, we've charted nationally, etc. We have immediate plans for touring and playing at major festivals (including Canadian Music Week), so we're looking for someone who is as serious as we are about making music, and who is willing to dedicate a lot of time and energy to it. Is that you? Get in touch!

Me again, from back when we were doing bed tracks on the first day or two of recording. Posted by Hello

Kyle brings the noise. Yes, he's actually playing through a Hiwatt head and a Marshall cab. Posted by Hello

Gregg also brought his camera to Greenhouse. Here's me with Rick Colhoun's guitar, which I played on a song that still doesn't have a proper title. Posted by Hello
