Doing anything Saturday night?
Check out this cool picture of Michaela, taken recently by
Rebecca Blissett, and subsequently Photoshopped into its present state by yours truly.

And here's Cam, laying down a phat bass groove.

Despite how it might appear, we haven't just been goofing around at Greenhouse. We've been getting plenty of work done. Here's Kyle, playing a bit of piano.
Kyle "Elvis" Fogden.
Michaela "Elvis" Galloway.
Cameron "Elvis" McLellan.
Caleb "Elvis" Stull.
When Gregg "Elvis" Steffensen showed up at Greenhouse sporting these crazy shades, we knew we'd all have to give them a try.
John "Elvis" Lucas.
WHAT I'M LISTENING TO RIGHT NOW
Yes, it's time for another fascinating peek into my five-disc CD changer. Here's what's in there:
The Radio Dept.:
Lesser Matters
Soundtrack:
24 Hour Party People
Hinterland: preproduction demos
Pond:
Rock Collection
His Name Is Alive:
Stars on E.S.P.
Our song "Portrait of My Invention" will be featured on the
November 22 edition of ZeD. I think it will just be in the background while the host of the show is introducing a segment.
Oh man. There is some good stuff on
this site. I didn't know George W. Bush was so musically inclined! His cover of "Sunday Bloody Sunday" is superb.
A little bird told me that if you listen to
North by Northwest this Saturday, you might hear some music by Hinterland.
CORRECTION: Sometimes little birds are just plain wrong. The song will actually air on Sunday morning's show.

Here's a shot of J-dot himself, playing the vibes.

Here's me, playing Jon Anderson's sweet Guild.

Gregg at his kit, Basement Winter.

Gregg dug up some more pictures from when we were recording at Basement Winter in 2002-03. I'm not sure what film speed he was using, but the colours are strangely trippy. Here's one of Michaela and Cam.
Boy, do they love us over at CBC Radio 3, or what? Our song "Aspidistra" (the short version) is featured on the site's music player this week.
Check it out. And you know what that means: there's a good chance they'll play the song on the radio show this Saturday night. Maybe even before 2 in the morning!
Wondering about the other bands on the bill with us at the Media Club on Thursday? Follow these links:
Novillero
Aaron Booth
Paper Moon
Jonathan Inc.
Incidentally, Hinterland will be on at 10:15 p.m.

Well it's been a bit of a bumpy show to set up (to say the least), but we are still on for tomorrow night at the Buffalo Club, along with the Februarys and Hejira (pictured above). I can't stress enough the importance of coming early to this one, because we are getting booted off the stage at 9:50 p.m. to make way for some nu-metal band that is playing later on. But the less said about that, the better.
THE LITTLE FELLA WHO COULDN'T WAIT FOR XMAS:
How much do I love Christmas? Well, today I bought my first Christmas CD of the season, and I'm listening to it already. But A Charlie Brown Christmas isn't merely a Christmas CD, it's a classic jazz record, showcasing the amazing musicianship of pianist Vince Guaraldi (and his drummer, Monty Budwig, and bassist, Colin Bailey). Classy stuff. I guess I should put it away until December, though.
I decided to do a Google image search on the word
hinterland, just to see what I could come up with. I found this picture, which is by B.C. photographer
Paul Bailey. Its title is "Hinterland". Go figure. Sort of a neat image, don't you think?
OK, it's pretty dead around here these days. Every time I see the amount of interaction that takes place on
certain other blogs, I start to get depressed. So, to get some chit-chat going, I thought I'd ask a question. Hinterland is not a cover band and never will be. But, just for fun, my question is:
If you could pick any song by any artist and have Hinterland cover it, what would it be?
